I've forgotten how good it could be to feel alive

Hi Guys!

My insomnia is at it's craziest right now, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to edit my latest vlog!
Yesterday (technically, I suppose) I went to see City and Colour & Biffy Clyro; I was very excited about this so I thought I'd take advantage of my own good mood and film the evening.
This is the first time i've done a vlog like this, so please let me know if it's something you enjoyed and would like to see more of! On a selfish level, it's great to look back at memories in this kind of way, but I don't want to post these sorts of things if it just results in boredom.

If you've read this blog for a while, you'll know I'm somewhat of A MASSIVE FAN OF CITY AND COLOUR, this was my 4th time seeing him (and the first time seeing him support- the only downside) and he still mesmerises me. I tend to get very vocal at gigs, and there was a moment where I shouted (rather loudly) to Dallas, and he nodded in my direction. Which, fan girl moment, a tiny acknowledgment has made me very happy!
I've developed a new fondness for Biffy Clyro too, I listened to them a bit anyway but now I've seen them live, the records just don't compare and songs I looked over previously, I now really love.
You'll be pleased to see, I didn't record any of our insane dancing. We're just embarrassing, honestly...
I'll let the video do the rest of the talking :) (My sleep deprivation is starting to hit me and I could have sworn I was sat facing the other way in my bed, bit disorientating to find out I'm not sat where I thought I was.)

Playing on my iPod:

This is one of those moments where I'm kicking myself for not paying much attention to this song before.

I wasn't planning on posting about any of my Christmas presents until after Christmas day, however last night my friend and I had our own early Christmas, and I recently treated myself to a few new items of clothing!
The tank top was one of the gifts from my friend, and I'm wearing it right now! It's so comfortable and oversized, and I have a secret love for tie dye so this is perfect for me. The hat is also courtesy of my friend, I already have it in cream but as I no longer have purple hair, I can now wear a red hat which makes me very happy.
The jeggings and boots were my own little present for myself and I love them. It's so unusual for me to wear anything but skirts and dresses, however these jeggings are so comfortable and versatile; I now own them in this wine colour and now in black too. I wasn't too sure on the boots until I tried them and I just couldn't resist. This outfit as a whole is basically what I'm wearing today (swap the jeggings for the black pair) and I really like how it is different for me but nothing something I feel uncomfortable in.

Is there anyone else who's like me when it comes to jeans...a bit too scared to wear them? It sounds silly but I always feel more exposed and body conscious in jeans than I do if I'm just wearing a skirt or dress!

Now for a photo spam...

I love this necklace, it comes on a long chain and it reminds me of the steampunk style.  The cogs turn and everything :D
My friend's dad finds my slight irish background very amusing, so this was his doing!
This will probably be my last post before christmas, so for now I'm going to continue watching Harry Potter and I hope you all have a lovely day!

Little Hell

'Little Hell' is the new album by City and Colour.

I'm rubbish at reviews, so please excuse this post. But I was so excited about the release of this, I couldn't not write about it. Plus, I'm a lazy blogger and it's a Sunday so I'm not particularly busy with anything else!
Listening to the live versions of songs that were played before the release of this album, I was left a little confused on what to expect. It was pretty obvious that this album would definitely not be what City and Colour fans have grown to love and expect of Dallas Green.
Fair play. Who wants to write the same album three times over? What's the point in releasing something that is the same as the other things you've released over the years.
Don't get me wrong, I am in LOVE with Dallas and his guitar. It's been a while since music has enabled me to feel so many things like I do when I listen to City and Colour. The way he plays acoustically just melts my heart, and his voice fills me with so much sadness...and somehow, warmth.
So, when I heard the album I was a little uneasy, not quite sure on how to feel about it. I knew it was going to be more than Dallas and the guitar, there was going to be a band behind it and it was going to have more of a 'Rock n roll' element to it. I mean this in the traditional sense, not in the post hardcore sense. Alexisonfire is not leaking into City and Colour, they remain separate.
If you don't like musicians who change their direction slightly, you won't like the new stuff from City and Colour. But for me, I love it. I haven't listened to it enough to know it as well as I do the other records, but essentially the heart and voice of Dallas still shines through. Those are things I love about City and Colour, and those elements are still dominant throughout the record.

At the moment, my favourites from this album are 'Little Hell' and 'O Sister.'
Dallas played 'O Sister' when I last went to see him play a month or so ago, and I had seen other performances of it on Youtube, so I knew this was one song I was sure to love!
As of yet, I am yet to experience the 'heartbreaking' effects of previous songs such as Day Old Hate and Happiness by the Kilowatt. But that doesn't take away the beauty of this new record.

If you haven't listened to City and Colour before, erm, what the hell are you playing at?! Your life is empty without it. Just Sayin'
;)

Have a listen: (my favourites may not be yours, so have a search on youtube for yourself. And lemme know what you think!)
