Nausica

Hi Lovelies!
Just a quick update post for you as an advanced apology for my lack of blogging over the next week or so. I have a pretty huge assignment due in next week and I also have a friend visiting so I'm pretty busy! (Trying to learn how to prioritise...I'm not that great at it!) We are planning on doing a 'friend tag' video at some stage so hopefully that'll be recorded and posted in the near future.

For those of you who are interested in Feminist related issues, you might like to check out an online magazine that my friend and I have launched! The idea of it was born about 2 years ago and now it's finally a reality!

You can also follow us on twitter @nausicamagazine and Like us on facebook.
It really would be appreciated!

And of course, if there any issues you think need to be discussed, throw 'em my way and I'll see what I can do ;)

You can run on for a long time

You can run on for a long time

I've developed a love of all things 'fringe,' and I've replaced my usual go-to colour from red to emerald.
I've been craving a good night out and I'd love to have a reason own/wear this outfit. The heel on the boots seem like a decent height yet not uncomfortable, and also great for day time wear too!

Disconnected

Hi Guys!

I'm going off the usual topic for this blog, so I hope you don't mind! I just wanted to share a piece of creative writing I've been working on. (If you're knew to this blog, there's a new fact for you: I want to be a writer.) This is just a (relatively) short excerpt, and the only one I have been sharing, to something that I've been really excited about. I've not had as much time to spend on it as I'd like what with Uni and many other distractions but the story is my go to comforter at the moment. If you'd like to take a read of it, that'd be great! And if not, feel free to ignore this post and await my next beauty/fashion related one.
I thought it would be nice to share something that was a bit more personal to me, and writing is something that has always been a huge part of my life.

"The Music Tag"

Hi Guys!
Just another vlog here, not beauty or fashion related but I am hugely obsessed with music so I couldn't not do this. Let me know if you'd like to see more things like this, or if you do this yourself! :)

I love thumbnails. No, really.

What's in my bag! *Vlog*

Upon Vicky's recommendation, I decided to bite the bullet and record a "What's in my bag" video!
Let me know what you think of these vlogs, now I've done a couple I think I might actually be enjoying them...I love talking to myself & this just makes me seem more sane for doing so ;)

Leave me a link to your youtube channel if any of you vlog also!

Urban Decay Ammo Eyeshadow Box *Review*

Hi Guys!

I finally managed to get my hands on an Urban Decay Palette, and I can't believe it took me so long! I know most people usually recommend the Naked palettes, but I already have so many neutral eyeshadows and I was drawn to the colours in the Ammo Palette. So that was my mind made up, I had to own the beautifully shimmered Urban Decay eyeshadows.

Excuse the slightly dirty box, I've only had it for a couple of weeks and I've already had a lot of use out of it!
You can buy this here

If you're not one for shimmered eyeshadows, this might not be the box for you, but I'm a sucker for a bit of a shimmer and these are subtle enough to be suitable for everyday wear! I seem to be wearing 'Smog,' 'Maui Wowie' and 'Polyester Bridge'  a lot, but I'm also really loving 'Mildew' and 'Last Call.' I love that this is quite a versatile range of colours, so you can go for a natural colour or if you're feeling experimental, it's easy enough to use the same palette for a more vibrant look!

(L-R)

Smog, Mildew, Oil Slick, Last Call, Chopper.

(L-R)

Maui Wowie, Shattered, Polyester Bridge, Grifter, Sin.

As you can see, once swatched the colours really aren't that intimidating! The colours are also very buildable, so you can decide how strong you want them. They also last all day, or at least for me they have, and thats without eyeshadow primer. Pretty impressed with that!

I'm really enjoying experimenting with the different colours in this palette, so expect a few eyeshadow tutorials in the future...maybe. Don't hold me to that ;)

Do you own any Urban Decay products, and now I've entered the world of Urban Decay, what would you recommend I try next?

As a side note (always with the side notes!) I've had a bit of a play around with my layout, again, what do you guys think? You may notice I have an 'About' page but it is bare for the time being! If there's anything you think I should write about, any questions you have etc, please do let me know and I shall include them in the page...possibly in video form!

"The Basics Tag"

Hi Guys!

I thought I'd just go ahead and try out doing my first video tag! I really enjoy watching them, so I figured there would be no harm in doing one myself.
I tag all of you! So let me know if you do this yourself and feel free to leave me a link to the post/video :)

Would you like to see me do more tags, or do you think they're a bit overdone?
Let me know what your thoughts are!

This is absolutely the most exciting time we could have possibly hoped to be alive

This is absolutely the most exciting time we could have possibly hoped to be alive

This is very similar to an outfit I wore yesterday. Instead of the studded leggings, I wore leggings with a few eyelet holes in (from Primark,) and bracelets and necklace were slightly different. The essence of it was still very much the same. It's the first time in a while I've really liked what I was wearing, and I weirdly enjoyed having my hair completely up- this is rare! I also liked my make up, but the only photo I took of it was an instagram one.

Sorry I've not blogged much this week, it's not been the best of them. I (theoretically) will be very busy with Uni assignments over the next couple of weeks, but I've got some posts in the pipeline- so keep an eye out for them!

Does anybody else ever find that once in a blue moon an entire look just seems to pull itself together and you kind of fall in love with it? I hope it's not just me...

Violent lips

Hi lovelies!
Just a quick post for today, but I wanted to share some goodies I received in the post this morning.
I entered Hannah's giveaway (check out her blog!) and to my complete surprise, I won! (I say complete surprise as I have about as much luck as a broken mirror, so this really made my day.)

Firstly, I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Hannah! This really has put a massive grin on my face, more so when I saw the effort you had put into the packaging. Who doesn't love an envelope explosion of hearts and beautiful scent? (what was that scent?!)

(That's a great thumbnail if ever there was one.)

Now to share my goodies!

This is all so perfect for me! I've been meaning to try Topshop makeup products for so long but it's something that always slips my mind. I have to say, I'm incredibly impressed!

I can't wait to experiment with the nail and lip foils!
The necklaces are beautiful too!

I just had a quick experiment with the eyeshadow palette and the nail polish and these are the results!

Topshop Smokey Eye Palette
Topshop Brightener
Topshop Gel Liner

Topshop Nail Varnish in 'Treasure'

Once again, Thank you! :)

Edit: I've also just noticed that this is my 100th post, yey happy 100th post to AGP!

Mildew *FOTD* Feat. Urban Decay Ammo Palette

Yet another FOTD, I hope I'm not going to overboard with them?
I ended up being snowed in today, so I thought I'd experiment a bit more with my new Urban Decay Palette and Stila lip stain!

Products Used:

L'Oreal Lumi Magique
L'Oreal True Match Foundation
HD Brow Palette
Urban Decay Ammo Palette (Mildew & Shattered)
Benefit They're Real Mascara
Stila Cherry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain
Dainty Doll Loose Powder

I'm never sure if green eye make up match well with green eyes, but I love these colours so I decided to go for it anyway!

I used 'Mildew' as the base and then used 'Shattered' to blend from the outer lid towards the centre.
Some people think the two-tone thing is very over done, but I love the look and hopefully it doesn't look too dated!

January Favourites

FIRST VLOG!!
Again, I apologise for the low quality video but as it's my first beauty vlog, I just want to get the feel for it before I decide to fully invest in it.
Not going to lie, I'm a little bit nervous about posting this. Some people just seem to be naturally good at talking in front of a camera, and I'm just an awkward specimen.

Would you like to see more vlogs? Let me know!!

FOTD for under £10! *Love Thy Make-up*

Hi lovelies!

As you may have previously seen, I set myself the challenge of purchasing a full face of make up for under £10 from Boots. (If you missed this, just click here.)
I have to say, I am MUCH happier with the results of this set of make up in comparison to the other set. I did learn a few little things to look for, last time I made the mistake of neglecting my eyebrows, so a sacrifice was made in order for me to have my brows this time round!

This set of make up came from Love Thy Make-up, so you don't even have to leave the house in order to grab these few products!
I was lucky in that I ordered these on free delivery, but I think delivery is only £2, so it's hardly breaking the bank!

Now, on to the products!

Technic Foundation (light) £1.25
Technic Whipped Blusher Mousse (peaches n cream) £2.99
Body Collection Eyebrow Pencil (dark)£1.49
Technic BIG Lashes - £1.49
Technic Lipstick (Hot Pink)£1.99

Postage: £0.00!

Grand Total: £9.21

I love the vibrancy of this lipstick! It does have quite a sheer effect to it, so it's not too 'in your face,' and it's perfect for adding a bit of colour into your day time wear. It doesn't dry your lips out either, which is always an added bonus.

As you can see, the lipstick has a nice bit of shimmer to it! I'm a sucker for shimmer...

This has a slight shimmer to it, so it saves the use of a highlighter! It's both easy to blend but also easy to build up, depending on the kind of look you want. It's not quite as intense as it looks in the pot.

I've mentioned many times before that I am incredibly fussy when it comes to foundation, I always struggle to find a nice matching colour and I expected this one to be too orange. However, I was pleasantly surprised in this way! The foundation seems to work more as a BB cream, meaning I could easily blend it out and reduce the darkness of it. This did mean that I didn't have quite as much coverage as I would have like (so I've since just added a bit of a concealer- but the following photo was before this!)
It does also have quite of a bit shine to it, but it faded after a few minutes of settling onto the skin.

As for the eyebrow pencil, I am very impressed with it! I'm usually a shadow kind of girl as I find I have more control over it, but with this I found it very easy to apply this on. It's the perfect colour match for my hair and I managed to apply it a lot quicker than it would usually take me. It also comes with a spoolie brush on the end, so I could blend it out a bit more to get a look that's a bit more natural!
Lastly, the mascara. This was just a nice and subtle one, it doesn't give you amazingly defined lashes but it does add a nice natural look to them. I didn't have any problems with clumping, and that's always a happy result!

The Verdict:

I think this goes to show that you really don't need high end products to achieve a nice, every day look. They may not be particularly long lasting (I haven't quite put that to the test) but at this price, you can kind of afford to re-apply the make up during the day.

There's a lot of nice products on this website, and I'd definitely look into purchasing a few more products now that I know that it's actually really quite good! I usually shy away from really cheap items like these, but I think this has taught me to be a bit more open-minded about this.
I'm a lot happier with the result of this challenge in comparison to my Boots challenge!

If there's a future we want it.

Hi lovelies!

Just a very brief update today as I'm running late (as always) and about to go meet a friend. I just wanted to bring it to your attention that I do indeed have a new blog layout and a new banner! The banner was designed by Hannah, so be sure to check out her blog and you can also like her facebook illustration page!
Let me know what you think of the overall layout, I'm still not completely happy with it so you can guarantee I'll be tweaking it over the next few days!

Now I'll leave you with some photographs that I've taken with my Diana F+ Lomography camera! These are from my first 2 films, so I'm still trying to get the hang of it!

2nd Liebster award!

A massive thank you to Lauren for nominating me for my 2nd Liebster award!!

What is the Liebster Award?

The Liebster award is an award that is given to bloggers and their blogs with less than 200 followers. Its goal is to promote the bloggers that are nominated.

The rules

1. Nominees must link back to the blogger who nominated them...it's only fair to acknowledge the lovely person who went out of their way to nominate you :)

2. Once you're nominated, you must tell 11 random facts about yourself!

3. You must answer the 11 questions that the blogger that nominated you asks, too!

4. and finally, create 11 questions for the 11 people you nominate for the Liebster Award! ^_^

Man V. Food!

5. What can't you live without?

9. If you could buy one thing, no matter how much it costs, what would it be?
Can I go for something practical like a house..?

10. One pet peeve you hate?
Y'know when some people just do really annoying things when they eat, whether it be eating with your mouth open or talking with food in your mouth, and many other little things like that. It makes me angry.

I can't quite come up with 11 as most people I follow have over 200 followers, but I'll give it a go!

FOTD. feat Rimmel Apocalips

Sorry about the *not so great* quality of these photos, it was just a quick snap taken on my iphone when I was on my lunchbreak at work!
I've jumped on the band wagon and purchased the new Rimmel Apocalips, and yesterday was my first time wearing it so I just wanted to share the look.

Products used:

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer- £9.99
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream (light)£7.99
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (fair) £5.99
Benefit High Beam - £18.50
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (peach glow) - £3.99
HD Brow Palette
MUA Trio Eyeshadow (passion)£2.50
Benefit They're Real Mascara - £18.50
Rimmel Apocalips (303 apocaliptic)£5.99

For my eye make up, I used the white powder in the MUA palette as a base, the lightest purple in the inner corner and blending to about half way along my eyelid, and the darkest purple along my lash line and bottom lash line.

I think I have a new love for the Rimmel Apocalips... I only purchased this one colour, but I might have to buy another as I love how vibrant and long lasting it is!
Can anybody recommend me a colour??
