Imagine That *FOTD*

Hi Lovelies!!

I'm here today with a simple make up look! I had found myself stuck in a rut with make up, with very limited time to have fun with it (which is the whole point, right?!) However, I had a day off work and neglected all other responsibilities to have a bit of a play around.
(Please do excuse the photos, I have a new camera that I'm trying to get the hang of!)

Face

I started off by covering blemishes and red patches with the Collection concealer, blending out with a small brush. I then used a larger brush to apply my foundation and then used my fingers to make sure it was all blended evenly. 

For contouring, I used the Collection Shimmer Shades palette and simply grazed my brush over all of the shades and then blended upwards towards my cheek bones, then lightly dusted powder along my temples and jaw line. (This is supposed to make your cheek bones look more defined...whether this works or not on me, I'm not convinced!) 

To add some colour to the apples of my cheeks, I applied the Dainty Doll cream blusher with my finger tips. To lift my complexion, I used the Too Faced Candle light glow and applied this over my cheeks and slightly down my nose with a brush. 

To seal this all in, I used my trusty L'Oreal Bare Naturale face powder. 

Eyes

I always start off with my eyebrows, by the time my is covered in make up they seem to disappear and I look like a bit of an alien. At the moment, I'm using the shade 'Sugar' from the Urban Decay Brow Box. I simply use an angled brush and powder over my natural eyebrows. 

For the main look, I used 'Polyester Bridge' from the Urban Decay Ammo Palette and used this to cover my eyelids and slightly under my brow bone. I then used 'Alluvium' by Illamasqua and applied a thin line along my eyelid crease and eyelash line (about half way along) then used a blending brush to blend it outwards. To add a bit more definition, I used the MAC black eyeliner along my lash line and slightly under my water line, again blending it out to keep the look subtle. 

To finish it off, I applied a thin layer of Benefit They're Real Mascard. 

Lips

I opted for a slightly more daring look.

And there we have it! I'm left feeling like I've made a valiant effort with my make up whilst not going too wild with it, giving myself a new everyday look!

You have lost your way *FOTD*

(This has just been in my head all day. I'm okay with that.) 

I'm an awful morning person, I won't try and pretend to be otherwise. This makes getting up for work in the mornings very interesting, so I'm all up for a simple and fresh look that could fool people into looking like I'd made real effort (that's a secret to most things in my life, fyi.)

I opted for metallic liquid eyeliner as this is a little more subtle looking than sold black, and only other real pop of colour is in the lipstick.

To be honest, I think I mostly liked my make up because of my new MAC foundation. I've finally found something pale enough for my skin, hoozahhh! Expect a review of that soon :)

Oops it looks like I published this before I'd finished it, I was in a mad rush to leave the house this morning- my bad! 

As you may be able to tell, I've changed my hair colour (yet again) to a red/ginger colour (it's lighter on the length of my hair, very 'multi-tonal,') and with that comes a new inspiration for make up. As I said in my last wishlist post, I'm really loving the coral look and I think this is because it just looks so fresh so I'm trying to bring that into my every day look, hopefully it's working! 

I've kept the eye make up quite simple, and just blended the two 'Colour Tattoo' products across my lid, starting with the lighter Eternal Gold in the corner and blending outwards into On and On Bronze, I've then applied a bit of liquid liner along the lash line and added a small wing. It's still enough to add a bit of edge to the overall look, as for the rest of my make up I've kept it simple and refreshing looking.

I've purchased a couple of new products today, I just had to feed the Coral love, so I'm excited to incorporate these in to my daily looks. (And to review them- expect a couple of reviews in the near future!)

A full set of make up- all for under £10! *The Verdict*

I'm finally back with a (hopefully) substantial beauty post! I was thinking the other day about how much money I must spend on beauty products, not even the 'luxury' things, but just my daily make up. I wanted to challenge myself to see if it was really necessary for me to spend as much as I do, so I sent myself to boots with a limit of £10 and the aim of buying replacements for my usual make up.

Here's just a brief overview of what I would usually wear on an average day...or the most basic of make up choices. I tend to change my eye make up quite a lot but I still always fall back to my trusted winged eyeliner.

Wow...I never expected my total to be that much...and that's with my most basic eye make up too. 

Now for the outcome of my £10 make up spree!

As you can see I wasn't able to get all of my usual go to products, such as the primer, blusher and eyebrow liner or shadow. I'll be honest, the primer and blusher I can go without. The eyebrow shadow, I cannot! 

Now for a quick run down on the products. 

The foundation was a bit 'eh' for me. Mostly because I'm so pale and I really struggle to find a foundation that doesn't turn me into an orange, so that was a definite problem for me with this! 

The coverage, overall, was pretty impressive. (Although at the moment my skin is struggling to realise that I am in fact 21, not a 13 year old girl going through puberty so I could have used some extra help!)

However, if you're not overly pale or looking for something with a miracle coverage, this actually isn't  a bad product! I found it easy to apply (using my fingers as I didn't allow myself to use my normal make up applicators) and it doesn't feel particularly heavy on my face. 

I had the same colour problem with the loose powder, but aside from this, I actually prefer the finish of it to my Dainty Doll one. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Dainty Doll products and they're not exactly cheap, but for my pale skin it seems like the easiest option for me. I might have to rethink this product though!

Overall verdict: Not too shabby for £1.99, but I'll be sticking to my L'Oreal True Match foundation, simply for the sake of not becoming orange! 

I'll be honest, I expected the lipgloss to be a lot more vibrant, so that was a bit of a disappointment for me. However, if you're looking for something with just a slight tint of colour and sparkle, this is actually pretty good. It's not the greatest for staying on, but for £1.99, reapplying it isn't too much of a problem. 

I'm completely torn over the Miss Sporty Liquid eyeliner. I love the finish of it, but the application isn't the nicest of experiences. I found it quite hard to get an even line and I had to go over some parts a couple of times to make the overall look of it more even. 

I'll probably stick to my Bourjois Eyeliner, but I'm still pretty impressed with this product when I consider the price of it! 

As for the mascara, I think it's nice if you just want a natural look or just something to darken your eyelashes, however it didn't particularly do anything in regards to lengthening or thickening my eyelashes. Having said that, there wasn't any clumping which is always a welcomed relief!

And the overall finished look: 

As you can see, this is a very basic look and you can tell the foundation is too dark for my face (check out the chin compared to the neck- and I spent a fair while blending in!) 

I can't get used to the pale eyebrows/ winged eyeliner contrast- and this is why I love my HD Brow Palette so much! Having said that, I am pretty happy with how the eyeliner turned out, I just wish the lipgloss was a bit brighter and I had something to define my eyebrows with! 

But still, not too bad for under £10!!

I'm thinking of doing a similar one with products from Superdrug as I think with the help of MUA I might get some surprisingly good results! And let me know if you decide to set yourself the same challenge. It's given me a bit of wake up in regards to how much I spend on Make up...I dread to think of how much my entire make up collection adds up to.

So you wanna call me the devil's advocate?

I've noticed my lipstick collection has been building over the past few months, so I thought I'd share a few swatches of my favourites! At the moment I seem to be sticking more to the red and purple palettes, winter just makes me love the darker shades that little bit more. (Sorry about the not-so-brilliant photos, lighting is a bit rubbish at the moment and it's kind of hard to get all the shades as accurate as possible.) 
I seem to go through different make up obsessions, and at the moment it's definitely lipsticks!

I've had my eye on the Tarte brand for quite a while, so although this is going to be New York on a budget (i'm taking very little money out there) I'm hoping to find a lipstick or blusher that will making parting with my $$s worth it!

Okay, so that sounds like A LOT, but this is what I would use if I were to do my make up properly as opposed to my usual 'OH GOD I'M LATE FOR WORK!' rush. My foundation routine pretty much stays the same, and I use various types depending on the condition of my skin.
My eye make up varies day to day usually, but again if I'm rushed for time, simple eyeliner and/or eyeshadow keeps me happy. :)
