Smile

Just a short post for today, but I just wanted to show my new smiley piercing.
I'd been sort-of/kind-of thinking about it for a while, in a "I like them but I won't do anything about it" kind of way. However, today I went with my friend so he could get micro dermals and I can never go anywhere with him without getting needled myself.
So, here is my smiley piercing :)

Excuse the bad photo, and the fact that you can't really see it. I've got a straight bar in for the time being, but when it's healed I will be changing it to a horse shoe bar :)

Let me know if you have any questions about the smiley piercing, or any piercing in general. I've been thinking about writing a post dedicated to piercings but I'm not too sure what you guys would find interesting.
I'm by no means that most informed about piercings, but I've had a fair few so I can speak from experience.

Fame

In this month's Glossybox I received a sample of Lady Gaga's perfume 'Fame.'
Now, I'm not the biggest Lady Gaga fan...in fact, quite the opposite, but I can't deny how much I love this perfume.
So much so, I have bought a full sized bottle and given the sample to my mum as she liked it too.

I've been searching for a well priced perfume for a while, since I broke the top off of my-all-time- favourite perfume, Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf.

I purchased the 50ml bottle and body wash/bath gel for £32, which really isn't too bad!

The smell of the perfume isn't usually what I'd go for, as I prefer sweet and floral scents whereas this is quite dark, and dare I say ...sensuous?
The fact that the liquid is black doesn't particularly excite me, but I guess it's the small little extras that count?

Rather than trying to describe the scent, I'll just show you what the general description for the perfume is. I'd say it's weirdly accurate:

The scent is built around three main accords: dark, sensual and light.

The dark accord was inspired by Belladonna, the deadly nightshade possessed by haunted beauties since the 18th century.

From this darkness, the fragrance evolves to a sensual accord of opulence, a fusion of dripping honey, saffron and apricot nectar.

And lastly, the light accord whispers magnificence. The rich floral layer of crushed Tiger Orchid and Jasmine Sambac embodies timeless beauty.

The accords work together to create a fragrance of floral and fruity elements, with the star ingredient inspired by Belladonna leveling out the whole fragrance and giving Lady Gaga Fame its signature as a scent.

If you can, get hold of a tester and give it a sniff yourself.
I, personally, love it.
I don't think there are any people who wouldn't like it, it works well at appealing to everyone!

Have you come across this perfume yet? What are your thoughts? :)

The Pursuit of Being

New York, New York

True to form, I am spending money that I don't have.
Last night (/2am) I booked a hotel in New York, so I can go visit my friend who is studying out there.
I always like to believe that I have a special talent of magicking money out of my ass, but sometimes this isn't always true!
I have remembered that I only have 2 lots of wages from work before I go so I am desperately trying to get some ££££'s so I can convert them in to $$$$'s!
(If only I didn't have bills/had the sense to save my wages over summer, oops!)

I sell items on amazon, and I'd really appreciate it if you'd just take a look and see if there's anything you'd like to buy.
Every little helps ;)

If anybody has any good, quick money making schemes, I'm open to suggestions (within reason!)

Also, have a look at my blog post about my trip to New York last year!

You caught me lingering in another girl's paradise...

Sights and sounds pull me back down another year,
I was here.
      I was here.

I may be alone in this, but I always find September a particularly horrible month. It leaves me in an inexplicable state of nostalgia, sorrow and wistfulness. This has been the case for about 8 years now, and as such I always seem to find myself leaning towards the same things to make me feel a little better.
A prime example of this (finally getting to the point of this post,) is Tori Amos.

Well, I say that she makes me feel better, but in fact her music reminds me of times when I've felt this way even more so. Somehow, that seems to act as a comfort. The mind works in mysterious ways...
I decided it was about time I made a Tori Amos appreciation post, because sometimes I need to remind myself of just how much I freakin' love her!
Growing up, I had heard a couple of her songs on the radio; however it wasn't until I was 12/13 that I realised it was her, as it took the wonderful invention of the internet to lead me down the path of all things Tori.
So, Tori has been with me for almost half of my life and her place in it is very much cemented.
(We also have Tori to thank for the name of this blog! Scroll down to the videos below to take a listen to 'Another Girl's Paradise')

I've had the privilege of seeing Tori live twice, and meeting her. (I'd show you a photo...but it's really zoomed in on my face and I was blinking. Great photo taking skills, mum!) Needless to say, after this I was an emotional mess and ran off to cry. During both shows, I was just in a state of pure admiration. Every part of me was captivated as the essence of her music cloaked around everybody in the room. They were truly beautiful evenings that I will never forget.

Tori isn't everybody's cuppa tea, this is something I've had to learn to accept. Of course, I am biased and only see Tori as a hugely talented musician. There are no words to explain the way Tori and music just seem to go hand-in-hand, like it's completely meant to be and piano is just a part of her being; her voice and poetic lyrics are an added bonus. Yet she is wonderfully quirky and this is one of the many reasons why I respect her, and one of the reasons many seem to think her music is, well, shit. (It pains me to even write Tori and shit as part of the same concept.)

If you've stuck with me through all of my rambles, congratulations, there was a point to this! I would like to share with you some of my favourite Tori Amos songs in the hope that someone else out there will appreciate them just         as much as I do!

Let me know if you're already a fan, or if you like what you just listened to...or if you have any music suggestions for me. Or just to say HI! :)

21st Century Girl

This is something I wrote a year or so ago, but I thought I'd post it here.
Let me know if you think I should do more posts like this, coz I kinda like getting on my soap box every now and again ;)

Here it comes, a better version of me.

If you're anything like me, any organisation system is never quite good enough. This plagues me in every aspect of my life, but more recently (as I've been on a major make up buzz) it has been my make up storage that has been annoying me. Beforehand, I simply had 2 make up bags- one for my most used make up, and one for the 'extras I might use at some point in my life.'
Last weekend I went shopping for stationary (such a good student!) and came across these little storage boxes.

I got these on special offer from WH Smith for £9.99. Not too shabby! They're nice and sturdy, very pretty and really handy.
At the moment I have adopted them as my make up storage, but they're definitely multi-use so who knows what else they'll be used for in the future.

In the bottom, and largest, box I've opted to store my eye make up. Because for some reason I feel the need to own a thousand eyeliners.

In the second box, I'm keeping all of my foundations, concealers, blushers etc.
(Featuring my beauty blender...I still love it!)

And last, but by no means least, my lipsticks!

With these boxes being so big...I need to buy more make up to fill them up, right?!
The only down side, that actually doesn't bother me, is that I can't store my brushes in them. However, I recently bought a new set of (32) brushes and it came with a case, so I'm perfectly happy with them being safe and protected in there!

Anybody got any better methods of storage...have I just overcomplicated things? Let me know!

I sit and drink pennyroyal tea, distill the life that's inside of me.

I do have some substantial (hopefully) blog posts in mind, it's just finding the time to sit down and focus. The past couple of weeks have been hectic and I can't see the next few being any less so. Freshers week starts next weekend, so I'm trying to prepare myself for 2nd year of Uni. Eep :/

In the mean time, just so you can see I'm really trying not to neglect this poor blog, have a random mixture of songs that have pulled me through this week. (The temptation to launch myself down the concrete set of stairs has been overwhelming, I managed to resist the urge. Obviously.)

Yep, I've seriously put Spandau Ballet on the same list as Nirvana.
It's just been that kind of week.

How have your weeks been?
As always, I'm always looking for suggestions as to what I can do to improve this blog etc...hit me with it! :)

THIS IS ME

I love Daily Grace.

Beauty Blender

I had heard Essie talk about this item a couple of times, and I'm always searching for anything that makes the whole 'make up application' thing a lot quicker.
I finally purchased this on Friday, and it arrived today!

I got mine from Amazon for £12.80+1.25 p&p.
